Mmm, Mmm Good Ya'll

Mmm, mmm, Good Y’all!

Cooking and eating certain foods can bring back important memories about friends and family. This recipe for Hershey Cake reminds me of my mother’s good friend, our neighbor, for over 50 years. I called her Miss Gerry (she was from the south). Miss Gerry had the most beautiful natural nails, was a great cook, and loved to entertain. She gave this recipe to my mother years ago and it was always one of my favorites. I, in turn, have given it to many friends and it has always been a big hit any time I take serve it! So here’s to all you chocolate lovers: enjoy making and eating this delicious cake!

Hershey Cake Recipe

1 cup margarine or butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 (8oz. Hershey bar, melted)
2 ½ cups flour
¼ tsp. baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
Powered Sugar

Preheat oven to 375. Mix l cup margarine or butter, (creamed) 4 eggs and 2 cups sugar. Beat l minute after each. Add alternately 1 (8 ounce) Hershey bar melted. 2 ½ cups flour, ¼ tsp. baking soda, 1 cup buttermilk and l tsp. vanilla.

Pour into a greased Bundt pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes. Let it Cool. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. For a more festive look, put whole strawberries around the outside of the cake and inside the hole of the Bundt cake. Enjoy!
