First Down Delicious!


Fall is the air or at least in the morning hours it feels it is!  Ha!  Nothing says fall, or approaching Fall like chili!  In my family, we watch a lot of football this time of year and cooking chili just seems like the thing to do. It is so easy, you can begin in the morning, use your crock-pot, then have time to watch all that college football with out missing even a play. I found a recipe I like, which I have modified a bit.  I think it turned out great.  My family agrees, so I will pass that along to YOU!

 Ingredients:
  • 1 pound lean ground beef, drain the grease
  • 2 cups fresh pinto beans (I soak them over night in water) or 2 cans of pinto beans
  • 2 cans Rotel tomatoes with green chilies
  • 1 cans dark beer
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • l-8 oz. can tomato sauce
  • l large green pepper chopped
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon tomato paste
  • 1tablespoon chili powder
  • 1teaspoon salt
  • tomato juice to make enough liquid
 
Directions:
  • Brown the meat with the onion.
  • Put all items in a large crock pot and cook for about 6 to 7 hours. You can double this recipe for a large group.
  • Serve with grated cheese and cornbread!
